ROCK star cum Federal Minister for the Environment, Peter Garrett, will be burning the Midnight Oil tonight allegedly on behalf of bushfire victims.He would have been better to stay well enough away where the stench of his hypocrisy could not be detected.Garrett is joined at the hip with the greens who formulate and oversee the kinds of policies and management that led to Black Saturday. He is a leader of the "manufactured" fire brigade and has to take some responsibility for the tragedy that occurred that day. He has asked his department to list fuel reduction burning as a - Threatening Process - under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act. He is a hypocrite not only because he is purporting to honour the victims of a tragedy cultivated by people of he and his ilk but because he also sings about giving Australia back to indigenous people while his own actions as a radical environmentalist show his disdain and contempt for their traditional custodianship.

As I said - HYPOCRITE! Garrett is a member of the wilderness brotherhood which seeks to exclude people from the land, lock it up and let nature take its course. He knows well that the result of that would be an environmental landscape which would bear no resemblance to that which existed under Aboriginal management. He doesn't believe in what he sings.He should have done the decent thing and stayed away. Instead he's going to rock over the memories of those who died due to the policies of those like him. How did he "sleep when their beds were burning?"

I am turning into my Dad with my music tastes. lol

He never knew what Elvis was singing about, then in the '70's, agreed that Elvis was a lot better than the singers of that era. So it goes.

Rap, well to me, it's ok but doesn't seem to have a chorus that everyone can join in! In my teens I could have named all the Top Ten and maybe, on a good week, the Top Twenty. But now, I only know a few singers / groups. A lot I have never heard of.

But Granddaughter and friends like this music. I bet when they become mums and dads, they will wonder what their childrens Pop Idols are singing about. Maybe it will all turn round and '30's music will be the thing.

I have lived through, Bing, Guy, Bill, Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Punk, Heavy Metal, Glam Rock. Think I lost a few years then and now, Eminem and boy groups, girl groups and such. Never found out what Garage music was.

Not to worry, I like Country and Western.

Astonvilla at Trocadero

On February 8 the French rock group Astonvilla (not the soccer team) gave a surprise concert on the Esplanade of the Palais de Chaillot (Trocadéro).

It was recorded to be broadcast on the French TV channel France 4 on February 24 at 8:50pm. Look for me "stage right", wearing an olive hat and lavender scarf!

As the group started singing, a few curious tourists gathered around to listen, although they probably didn't guess that this is one of the most succesful rock bands in France! Fans who happened to catch the last-minute announcement on the band's website took photos and cheered (clapping and yelling also helped everyone stay warm...a frozen wind that day!)

As it got darker a chilly rain began to come down (see the crew in the back holding a tarp over the drummer), but the concert continue, even going 45 minutes over the scheduled time (the band had a concert later that night at the Trabendo). What troopers! (having the Eiffel Tower sparkling in the background doesn't hurt the mood, either)Stay tuned for the location of the next "concert sauvage" by Louise Attaque scheduled to take place before the end of the month!

ThEy Rock!! i watched them along side Stuka Siren and Confused... damn they rock...

I like the other two bands who also performed as front act for Orange and Lemons last Tuesday.... but Kaikatsuna is so emoCoRe and their song Jennifer H. Balahura... *marvin's masterpiece* is something that i've been hearing for quite a while now... and it juz wouldnt leave my head,,, its been there for more than a month now. finally i opened this site where i can play it again and again but that's so not enough.. i need a copy...

so i tried downloading it but i couldnt so i emailed them... they finally answered (in less than 24 hours) and im gonna get m'own fuckin copy next week on my way home again!! ahahahahahah!!
